15+ Proven Tactics to Get More Comments on your Blog [Guaranteed]

get more comments Comments are like rewards to your blog posts by your readers. Having more comments makes your blog look much more popular and better. However, have you thought why readers will take their time to comment on your blog posts?

It’s possible to get more comments if you have written an exceptionally well blog post or if you have applied some solid and working tactics to get more comments.

Applying good tactics will surely see a rise in the number of comments on your blog.

Check: Commenting helps the commentator more than the author

In this article, Avi and I are going to discuss some of such tactics, which can help you increase comments by a significant amount, and make your blog much more comment friendly to your readers.

So, here comes the first 4 points on how to get more comments from my side…

1. Leave a question to your readers.

One of the most important things in getting comments on your blog posts is that if you leave a question for your readers on your blog posts. Think about the fact that why a reader will actually post a comment on your blog, unless it is really needed.

By leaving a question, you are actually asking your readers to present their views about the topic via comments, so in turn there is a good chance that most of the readers will leave a comment for you on your blog post as an answer.

For example, if you are helping your readers to learn something from your post, then you can obviously leave a question at last, to test how much your readers have learnt from your post, and which the readers will actually want to answer.

2. Using CommentLuv Premium for your blog.

CommentLuv is an excellent plugin and if you use it you will surely get more comments. It increases user engagement on your blog via comments. It is a tested and working plugin, which will surely make your readers comment on your blog posts, repeatedly.

The most important thing that you should do with this plugin is to allow dofollow backlinks for the readers’ comments only if they comment on a specified number of posts on your blog, let’s say about 5 posts for an example.

In this way your readers will get more comments as the reader will comment on your posts repeatedly, so as to get a dofollow backlink from your blog through the comments section.

CommentLuv premium also has some other advanced features and if you can utilize it fully then I am quite sure that you will see a drastic change in the number of comments on youir blog, as I have seen after installing this plugin.

3. Answer to commentator’s questions.

Another good habit is to answer to comments that your readers ask on your blog posts. In this way, you can keep the conversation going, make the blog posts much more engaging, and flood it with comments.

Interact with your readers well, make sure that they don’t feel lonely while leaving comments on your blog. Make sure that they get a reply to their question. In this way you will also be maintaining a good relationship with your readers.

Always keep this in mind, most of the readers won’t comment on your blog posts if they don’t get a suitable answer for their questions, as they would find the commenting section useless if your don’t take time to reply to their comments.

4. Leave space for suggestions.

You should always try to leave space for suggestion by your readers on your blog posts. As a result, many of your readers will leave you suggestions for your blog post and in turn make your get more comments on your post.

For example, if you are compiling a list of amazing WordPress plugins, then you should always ask your readers to plugins that they might know which can be useful to a person having a WordPress blog or site.

I have observed that by leaving a place for suggestions, readers involve themselves in the blog posts actively by commenting some things that might be useful to other readers.

You should also try to include those suggestion on your next post which might be similar to the one on which your readers have left a suggestion for you, so that your readers do not feel that their suggestions are wasted.

Hope you liked my suggestions. This is where I will take a pause and Avi will discuss the next part…

Here are the next points. -Avi

5. Exchange comments.

If you want to get more comments just after publishing it then meetup some bloggers and exchange comments with them. This is really a good way to get more comments on your blog and also earn links by commenting on other blogs.

6. Create Giveaways.

Yah. They help a lot. Attracts people and you can make the interested ones do anything for you. You can ask the contestants to leave comments to win the giveaway and they will surely leave one as they really wants to win the giveaway.

7. Write controversial or debatable posts.

Controversial posts or debatable posts really get more comemnts. They attract many people to check the post and give their own opinions. For instance, a few days ago I posted the artilcle “Blogger v/s WordPress” and it really attracted a lot of bloggers to read it and give their own opinions. So you can see that these type of topics really rock.

8. Convert Spam.

I think you already read my article “Why I love Spam Comments?“. In this article it is clearly mentioned that more comments attract other commentators. So if you get a lot of spam comments then you can just convert them into genuine comments to increase engagement and productivity to your blog.

9. Write Editorial Posts.

You’ve launched a new product or a new blog? Write about it on your primary blog. This will not only do the promotion of that new blog but also will help you to get more comments on your blog.

10. Send Trackbacks.

You know some good blogs in your niche? Link to him and tell him that you gave a mention or send trackbacks to his blog. This will really surprise him and he may leave a vital comment on your blog post.

11. Announce Winners.

Don’t just announce the winners on a social site but write about it on your blog so that the winners come up and thank you for the giveaway. This helps to get more comments on your blog.

12. Allow guest posting.

This is a good way to get more comments on your blog. The guest blogger submits a post on your blog and then he promotes it in his places. And this brings new commentators to your blog.

Important: Pradeep Kumar’s tips to get more guest bloggers. (He has 700+ guest authors.)

13. Kill spam and learn to say no.

In this blogosphere spam is everywhere, either convert it or kick it off. Try to say no to those guest bloggers who submit low quality content as they will never help your blog.

14. Write Case Studies.

Have you read case study? I wrote an article “why my previous blog was a big flop” and that really attracted a lot of users to check it and know the mistakes I did. This helps the readers to learn from others and so you get more comments on these type of posts.

15. Bring some new taste.

That can give a unique taste to your blog. If you’re always writing articles on your blog then sometimes try to post good INFOGRAPHICS, many people like good ones as they carry a lot of info. So do try it to get more comments on your blog.

16. Reply to comments.

Of course that will help. If you get 10 comments the  reply to them and your comment count will increase to 20. On seeing this other readers will make a guess that great discussions are going on that posts and so they will also leave their views.

17. Good Commenting System.

Don’t ask your readers a lot of questions to comment on your blog. Catcha and other verifications stop them from commenting. Use good plugin like GASP to keep spammers away and get more comments from genuine readers.

So this brings us to the end of this post.

Hope you liked the suggestions to get more comments by both of us. If you want to add some more points then please add them via comments and help us to get more comments. ;)

Note: Without good content you will never get good comments. So always try to provide researched and detailed quality content to your readers. Then they will take some time to leave their opinions for sure.

  12. Getting comments is not as big a deal as you consider. Yes its true that comments do indicate some life on one’s blog but if you take the pro bloggers like Harsh of shoutmeloud and Dukeo then you would see that these blogs aren’t exactly killing it with comments. They do make a lot of cash though. One should not actively pursue comments as they indicate nothing. Ehsan Ullah on one of his bluehost review posts has over 100 comments but one sale, so think for yourself…

    • Comments, they means a lot to me. They tell us that a blog has life in it. When we see many comments on a blog then we get the clear idea that the blog is talking, it’s teaching something, taking opinions from readers and receiving their reactions. They are what makes a blog engaging and living…

And when we talk about sales, let me tell you want thing -Comments play a big role in this marketing world. We hardly buy any product without reading the reviews, and comments are the reviews that people think about the product. When we see many positive comments we really get attracted to the product and finally we buy it. And that benefits the product owner. But without those positive reviews the product site or owner might not have been able to make us buy. But that comments did it just like that. So it’s all about comments, positive ones help and negative ones will ruin. Let me know your thoughts now…

And hey Ehsan, congrats for the sales. Best of luck for future. :)

    • While it’s true that low comment doesn’t mean that the blog have low traffic but comments have other like benefits also like chances of getting good ranking on SERP so more no of comments do prove helpful for any blog.
