I love using PowerPoint with Slideshare Gautham. I also like that you can incorporate video into them so they can be “livened” up. I found lenghty ones to get boring or drag on. I think get to the point so they will work well for you.

Yes, Powerpoint presentations are a plus when it comes to marketing. Even without flash and especially if you wish to speak to the crowd rather than letting videos do the talking, this will suffice and most probably will bring a good understanding to what you are marketing.
Powerpoint presentations can be effective as long as you don’t put a wall of text and then proceed to read it! that’s one sure way to put to sleep your audience, even wikipedia mentions it ( you just have to search “Death by PowerPoint”). Another thing that should be obvious but I’ve seen many people ignore is to make sure your slide shows are readable, you should choose the right combination of font and backgrounds.
Like many other things, powerpoint can be really good and helpful if you know how to use it.

I prefer creating videos from presentations, as then they could be played independent of whether the system has office or not,; thus making my work portable. Just play the video, pause when required and make effective presentations.
I would like to stay away from flash given numerous vulnerabilities associated with it.
